How to Choose the Right Wedding Photographer

Capture Me Weddings have kindly provided the following article regarding
how to choose the right wedding photographer for your special day.

It's a saturated market, full of amazing-looking images but how do you choose the right photographer?

After meeting each potential photographer, ask yourself the following series of questions and when the answer is "Yes" to all of them, you've found the one!

  • Did they put you at ease immediately upon meeting them?

  • Did they put what you want first and ask lots of questions about your big day?

  • Do they just do weekend wedding work, or are they a full time photographer?

  • Do they have images which take your breath away?

  • Have you seen plenty of variety in styles and do they have the style that you're after?

  • Do they have an album that you've fallen in love with?

  • Do they have insurance and contingency planning / nominated replacement photographers, in case they are ill or incapacitated?

  • Are they a qualified member of a recognised professional body, such as BIPP, the MPA or SWPP?

  • Do they have a formal contract of engagement?
Does the contract agree the price you'll pay for your album?

  • Do they have previous client feedback that you can see - either on their website or letters of thanks, etc?

  • Do they make you feel at ease?
Are they natural, friendly and approachable?

  • Are they someone you would have invited as a guest to your big day?

  • Will they work well with other service providers, such as the videographer, the vicar, priest or rabbi ?

  • Are they available on the date you're after?!

If the answer is yes to all of the above - BOOK THEM before someone else does! If there are a couple of No's there, then you need to assess whether or not you've found the right photographer yet. Good photography isn't a cheap service, so find someone perfect for the job. It's worth paying a bit more to have a full house of "Yes" answers, rather than pinning your hopes on the "No's" being of no consequence.
