Creating the WOW Factor
With Personality
When I meet with clients there is one thing they all say when
asked about their wedding, 'I want it to be different'. So what
does different mean? How can you ensure your wedding is personal
to you and exudes personality and style? There are so many websites
and magazines to tease and tantalise you but I suspect this can
feel a little overwhelming at times. I thought therefore I would
give you a teaser to some of the design elements I will be incorporating
in my weddings in 2009.
Eco weddings, a lot of my clients feel they have a moral obligation
to reduce the unnecessary waste associated with weddings. Just
by taking the 3 small steps below you can make a huge difference.
- Email invitations instead of printed versions
- Reduce carbon footprint by hiring local suppliers and source
local farmers for the food.
- Grow small pots of herbs to line pathways or miniature ones
for favours to guests
Lighting continues to be popular this year, consider lining pathways
with metal shepherds crooks and hang lanterns from them. Ask a
lighting specialist or your local marquee company to position
up-lighters on trees outside or light up a wall in one colour
for added drama.
Elaborate candy stations by the exit for guests to go to before
they leave, ok I know we say sweets not candy but the same principle
applies. Choose sweets in the same colour to make it more dramatic
and stylish. Drape the table with luxurious linen and light with
lots of candles. Ensure there are scoops for guests to use instead
of their hands along with little sweetie bags
Sparkle continues to inspire brides, think about hanging crystals
or pearls from candelabras or flower displays. Buy strings of
crystals and put round your napkins.
Wrap a border of lace round the middle of the vase then use
the same lace round the wedding cake.
Hang strings of flowers from windows, doorways or chandeliers.
Same colour tones of flowers are coming back in popularity bringing
with it timeless elegance. Use different shape and size flowers
for added interest. Popular colours include pink/orange/yellow/white
and green.
Buy some funky frames from a boot sale and position at your
reception along with funny glasses and hats. Ask one of your ushers
to take pictures of your guests through the frames wearing the
mad items you have provided.
