Wedding Insurance For Your Big Day

Let's face it, a woman's wedding day is something she has probably been planning from an early age. With so many elements to a wedding these days it is easy to see how the average cost has now risen above £20,000. When your spending this amount of money on a day with great sentimental value as well, protecting yourself from the unexpected should be your first priority. This is why wedding insurance must be first on your list of your wedding day preparations.

In the current economic climate, we are now used to seeing companies collapsing and going into administration. wedding cancellation insurance, this will cover the costs of re-arranging your big day if either the venue or suppliers, such as caterers or car hire companies failed to supply.

What Wedding Insurance Can Cover

There are many elements to a wedding, some basic and some extravagant to make your big day that extra bit special. It is the success of these elements that can make or break your wedding day, so let's take a look at what a wedding insurance policy will cover.

1. The Wedding Dress - Possibly the most important dress the bride will ever wear. A lipstick stain, wine spillage or damage to the dress could ruin the whole day for the bride to be. A wedding insurance policy will cover the costs to repair/replace the dress, if the unexpected were to happen.

2. The Wedding Rings - To cement your wedding vows to each other, the wedding rings are probably the second most important feature of the wedding, after the dress. Depending on your budget, wedding rings can vary in cost from £200 up to £2000. Make sure your policy is suitable to cover the full cost in the event of loss, theft or damage.

3. Wedding Reception Insurance - The wedding reception is where all your guests will gather to eat, drink and toast your marriage. In the event that the venue has to cancel your booking or the reception caterers have to cancel, the money you have paid out will be covered including the costs to re-arrange the date of the wedding or to replace the caterers.

4. Wedding VIP's - As well as the bride and groom, there are others that will be integral to your big day. The best man, the maid of honour, the father and mother of the bride. In the event that one or more of these VIP's is unable to attend the wedding due to illness, injury or death, some wedding insurance policies will cover the costs to rearrange the wedding in the event of cancellation.

5. Wedding Extras - To make your wedding day that extra bit special and unique, some couples opt for the extravagant. This may include ceremonial swords, marquees or even public liability insurance for a fireworks display. Extra cover is available for these items at an extra cost.
